YOU ARE HERE: BERLIN'S SCHLOSS MONBIJOU
You (and the photographer, F.A. Schwartz) are standing in 1885 on Berlin’s Monbijouplatz. a small plaza south-west of Hackescher Markt, looking at a vanished palace, Schloß Monbijou - former summer seat of Prussian electors’ and king’s wives, and later seat of Berlin’s Hohenzollern Museum.
The camera is positioned in such a way that it captures the main entrance to the palace site and looks east along Oranienburger Straße and towards the Neue Synagoge (itself completed in 1866).
