On this day, May 12, 1945 Julius Fromm (born as Israel From), inventor of the first seamless rubber condom, died in exile in London at 62. "Fromms Act" or "Frommsen" were produced in Berlin from 1916 and were included in every German First World War soldier's pack. By 1919 some 150,000 Frommsen were manufactured per day.
