At 8.30 PM on June 2, 1967 in West Berlin, a 26-year-old Romance languages and literature student, Benno Ohnesorg, suffered a deadly gun wound to the back of his head. The shooter, a West-Berlin police officer, Karl-Heinz Kurras justified the use of his weapon with self-defence.
