Strolling Through Berlin-Luisenstadt: "Walls, Gates & Berlin's Vanished Canal" Audio-Walk - with Audio-Preview
Available through Berlin Companion App (Apple and Android)
Imagine walking through Berlin listening to the story of places you are passing, of people who once occupied them (sometimes quite literally) and of things you would otherwise be looking at in a head-scratching manner (what is this thing in the tree? why a bridge where no water can be seen?).
Now imagine doing the above at your own pace, at your own time and undisturbed by anyone. Just you, your smartphone, your headphones and your private “whispering guide” whose voice you can hear while walking.
Add to it GPS-navigation with the app informing you where to go, where to stop and when to go back to the route should you stray from it attracted by an unusual sight or only half-closed door to a nineteen-century Berlin house, and you arrive at everything that “Berlin Companion App” can offer. Including sections of historic maps and historic photos of the places you will visit.
To see whether you can imagine spending some hour and half discovering secrets of Berlin’s vanished Luisenstadt Canal and learning things you didn’t even know you wanted to know about Berlin-Mitte and Kreuzberg, directed by the app and accompanied by the sound of my voice, here’s a little preview.
You will find the app on both platforms for Apple and Android users. To download the app, go to:
