On this day in 1933 Nazi film censors banned Fritz Lang's and Thea von Harbou’s (both makers of another classic, “Metropolis”) new work, "Das Testament des Dr Mabuse". The production was the first in a many, many films to be banned by Josef G’s Ministry for People’s Enlightenment and Propaganda.
"Very exciting. Must not be released. Ready manual for crime," wrote Goebbels in his diary.
