To widen a section of eastern Leipziger Straße to 32 metres, on this day in 1929 Greater Berlin's Magistrat (City Council) stamped off a plan to demolish baroque Spittelkolonnaden - two eighteenth-century colonnades located at No. 52-55 (old numbering).
