LONG HISTORY OF A SMALL VANISHED STREET: THE NAMING OF KÜRASSIERSTRAßE
Today in Berlin: 23 June, 1836
On this day in 1836 the old Totengasse (Dead Lane) - in what now is Berlin-Kreuzberg - was renamed Kürassierstraße. Sadly, no map features the latter anymore: the street vanished from Berlin’s city grid for good. Here’s how it came to that.
