On this day in 1927 in Berlin the then largest and most modern power plant was officially opened in Berlin-Rummelsburg, part of the borough of Lichtenberg. It was named in honour of its deceased technical designer, Georg Klingenberg: soon Großkratfwerk Klingenberg provided electricity to 75% of all Berlin households.
