I have been watching the paywalled and the non-paywalled pages for a while, and came to a conclusion that if we wanted to pay for every single thing that we really like on Substack, we'd all have to sell a kidney. Or two. And since my plan to perhaps be able to give up my day job in order to focus on my Berlin stories will most likely not really take off (not in this lifetime), I can just as well take the lock down:-)
You are the reason I came to Substack, and I love your work. Totally cool paying. You are right, however, paying for every awesome contributor on here would seriously compromise my finances. Also people need to check out your podcast. Very well done. What led me here. Take Care.
For years now I have been following developments in Berlin, Potsdam and Dresden. Your newsletter is very interesting. I hope to return for another visit to Berlin in the next few months.
Thankyou for your newsletter. It makes up for not being able to afford visiting Berlin (that was to be 2024). Ho hum. Tragic!
Your posts about Berlin and its past are not only informative but also fun to read.
I decided not to monetize my stack when I signed up two years ago and haven't regretted it.
Among the many reasons that I follow and appreciate your work is that you are also so obviously kind and thoughtful. Thank you again, Beata.
Thank you, Gary. That’s very kind of you.
A generous choice! I, too, am having second thoughts about my paywall.

That's very generous of you!
